It was really quite scary starting my weight-loss challenge with the focus being on me for a year, but being committed to changing my lifestyle while not focusing on being on a diet was important. Being on a diet gives the mind-set of it being temporary which means you will probably give up when you have had enough.
There have been people come up to me with some good advice. As I said previously, some I try, some I don’t but I’m always open to suggestions. “Get a healthy body in order to lose weight, not lose weight to get a healthy body” I wasn’t sure about this statement but when I started looking at Dr Bergs website recommended by one of my supporters I could see why. It was quite alarming how things I read brought me back to when I was ill. This has made me take notes to follow some of the advice and see what happens. As I have found through my journey, it’s all about taking information, trying it out and seeing what works for you.
Many of you reading this will relate to what I did in early Summer last year. I bought a dress way smaller than what I normally did because I liked the look of it saying “one day I will wear it”. I tried it on at Christmas time and got into it but felt that the belly fat, which I am working on by doing some exercises, spoiled the look of it. A couple of months on and its a better fit so maybe one day soon I will have an occasion to wear it.
I was hoping to have a good last few weeks before my weigh-in but it started off so bad, I was in a lot of pain and was unable to do anything and I wasn’t eating right either. I was feeling frumpy and fat in the clothes I tried on and felt a bit down heartened but then remembered they were smaller sizes. What I do then is put on my work uniform which is the only big and baggy clothing I have left. This makes me feel really good as I see how far I have come. Things are improving again, so I can focus on the important changes I have made so far – it is a working progress for life changing results.
There has been tremendous support from the athletes at EAAC, they have been filling my Challenge water bottles with their loose change as they all want better facilities and hopefully that will come when the money is raised. There are still some bottles available if you want to fill one to be entered into the prize draw.
I was so excited when I saw the pictures of the new centre, it will be open before we know it! If like me you want to help raise money why not help them out by fundraising, it doesn’t take much to raise funds and Moray has got to get behind them to achieve the sports we all want. Every time I go out for my walks or use my exercise bike I switch on my Fit4change app it doesn’t cost me anything but I raise money for a good cause. Athletics in Moray needs me and you so please get behind me and support MSC to get better facilities for the talented athletes of Moray.
