It has always been the goal of the Moray Sports Foundation, through Moray Sports Centre, to deliver a series of “firsts” in terms of providing fully accessible classes, facilities, and equipment.
As one of our founding principles, we aim to support those households that are vulnerable and disadvantaged, by providing the best facilities to encourage development in the area. Having secured funding with Moray LEADER we were very happy to commence our project 15th July 2020.
When designing our new inclusive outdoor play park, it was key to show that we understand that children and young people with disabilities and chronic illnesses, have extremely limited services in Moray to suit their needs.
With the majority of other facilities in need of repair, or with only one accessible piece of equipment available, our new playpark is the first of its kind in the North of Scotland designed specifically to ensure inclusivity.
Bringing not only enjoyment, but also providing a unique learning environment where those with these needs can play alongside their able-bodied peers, encouraging not only physical development but also that of social skills.
We’ve collaborated with the wider Moray community to design a playpark that caters for all levels of physical capabilities.
We’ve also consulted disability, educational, public, private, and third sector services to ensure that our new inclusive playpark caters to the needs of every child.
Now that post-Covid construction has commenced we’re really excited to be able to welcome our first visitors in the near future as we see the park take shape.
Together we will continue our #MSCCommunity
