COVID-19 Update | May 2020

What strange times we find ourselves in. Not for one second did anybody think that this would be how 2020 would unfold. With every week that passes we continue to be inspired by the strength, resilience and spirit of our amazing MSC community. We look forward to the day that we can welcome you though our doors once again.

The return of sport needs to be carefully planned to keep us all safe. Scottish Government’s phased route map out of COVID indicates the likely return of some outdoor sports like golf and more outdoor exercise by the beginning of June. Re-opening of gyms and sports centres is in a further phase of the plan, and even then, the return will be gradual.

Before we reopen, we’ll put in place measures to keep staff and members safe – social distancing, hand sanitising, equipment sanitising and so on. We are working with our industry colleagues to plan the detail of what we need to put in place. We are not quite there yet, but these details will form industry standard operating guidance. Adopted by all, the guidance will support the reopening of our sector by demonstrating that we can operate safely.

When we can reopen, we’ll be contacting all members individually and keeping you up to speed across social media. If we don’t have your up to date email address or telephone number please send your new details to hello@moraysportscentre.co.uk. Some of our team members are working from home and will update your record.

Other members of our brilliant team are volunteering their time during lockdown to bring you online classes. For many, exercise during lockdown has become an even more important part of the daily routine. Lots of you have been joining the online classes and we’d love to see more join; we appreciate your support. There’s a good variety of classes on offer and all have options for low and high intensity, just choose the best option for you. It’s a great opportunity to try a class you’ve not done before.

You can contact the instructors individually. Here’s what they’re offering and how to get in touch. Join in – they’ll be delighted to hear from you!

Chantall – AKA The Moray Motivator is teaching her adult and family fun classes on Facebook Live. Chantall has both a page and private group. As you’ve come to expect, her classes are vibrant and colourful – look out for her mini-mouse dress up class.

Diane – AKA DiFit is offering a full mix of classes on Facebook from Dance Intervals, Ab Blast, some cheeky challenges and even box fit. If you watch carefully you might even catch a glimpse of her co-instructor Truffles.

Emma Alana – One of our in-house Body Pump Instructors. She has only put on a few classes for friends and family on ZOOM but would be happy to extend the offer to her Facebook friends. If you would like to contact her, she’d be happy to run you through a Body Pump work out.

Louise – AKA Kick’n & Box’n Ladies Only Class. Louise’s classes are on Zoom (live only) and you can ask to join the video via her Facebook page. Mixing up her circuit style classes with a little bit of Legs, Bums and Tums this week, you’re going to raise your heart rate in this class.

Mollie – AKA Mollie Powney PT. Mollie’s classes are advertised on Facebook and you’ll be sent her ZOOM link. A mix of HIIT and Pound classes are being delivered. Don’t worry if you don’t have drumsticks any household items e.g. a set of chop sticks can be swapped in.

Sam M – AKA PiYo Live workouts. Sam runs her classes on Facebook Live and they’re a great way to stretch and tone at the same time as increasing your heart rate. Sam mixes her classes between PiYo, a Pilates and Yoga hybrid, and Cardio Barre, a fusion of ballet inspired moves with Pilates, Yoga and strength training.

Don’t worry if you can’t access the Facebook classes live. The great thing is Facebook stores them on the page so you can join in later.

For a bit of inspirational video watch our instructor Robert Brown’s first podcast on YouTube. Rob has a passion for natural body building and has sustained his training throughout lockdown. He introduces us to another Moray based Rob and recounts the story of how they got into natural bodybuilding and natural bodybuilding competitions.

Like all businesses in our sector we have operational and financial challenges to overcome but we remain determined to emerge from this crisis in the strongest possible position to serve the MSC community. You spur us on. These are unprecedented times, but we are inspired when we see how our MSC community has come back together despite the challenges – albeit in a virtual capacity!

Please stay safe, stay connected and continue being your brilliant, creative, inspiring selves! Together we will all get through this.

Together we will continue our #MSCCommunity
