Coronavirus Update 20/03/2020

The Moray Sports Centre remains open until directed otherwise by Government and will continue to support the mental and physical health of Moray during this difficult time as our nation adapts to life with Coronavirus.

Proactive measures to “socially distance” ourselves while trying to maintain your health and wellbeing can be challenging. We can confirm we currently have no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at this point and you will be informed if this changes on social media and the website.

We have a very large building and a low number of users at present. We will continue to operate until such time that we are instructed not to. Keeping in mind our social responsibility, we have introduced changes to our operation and the most up to do date information is as follows.

Operational hours will be (until further notice), this is being reviewed frequently on a day-by-day basis:

Monday – Friday 6:30 AM to 8 PM

Saturday and Sunday 8:00 AM to 5 PM

Safe operations The Sports Hall will operate with BOOKED activities only. This way we can sterilise equipment between use and limit activity areas. We will no longer use the air conditioning in the building.

The gym has been slightly reorganised so that all users can adhere to social distancing. Some Cardio Equipment has been switched off to help members distance themselves when in the space. Limiting access to the gym space – the maximum number of people in the gym will be no more than 25 at any one time. Please be patient if we ask you to wait before entering the facility, or call us before heading in. All group exercise  classes have had numbers reduced and the timetable is being managed daily. Wherever possible we will publish which classes are running, albeit this is subject to change at short notice.

The Gym remains operational with additional cleaning regimes in place. We kindly ask that you support us with the following additional measures when you enter the facility and undertake any activities:

Wash your hands on entering the facility, regular hand washing with soap (for at least 20 seconds) or alcohol-based solution.

Covering coughing or sneezing with a tissue or elbow.Wash hands straight after sneezing.Avoiding touching of eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.Using a sweat towel and cleaning any equipment before AND after use. Limiting contact with people who are sick and staying home if you are sick.

The CDC also recommends cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects. Please bring in your own Yoga mats as we will not be putting these out in classes.

The following areas are closed for deep cleaning and will not re-open until further notice: The ground floor changing rooms, toilet blocks, quiet area of the café (the back area). The closure is indicated with red and white tape and signage.

Our next Direct Debit (DD) run is due on April 1st, 2020. If you are hoping to continue while we can stay open, then leave your DD in place with your bank and the final payment can be taken. Please note that our operating hours is subject to change with very limited notice in such an uncertain time.

Annual Memberships – for those that are hoping to continue or not, please email if you have not been contacted already. Membership refunds are currently being calculated.

For anyone that didn’t receive an email ahead of the Facebook notice being posted 19th March 2020, please email us. We may have a clerical error or an incorrect email address for you. Hopefully when the centre re-opens we can then use this to contact you in advance of the doors opening.

COBBS café

There is now a limited offering with COBBS and this is being reviewed daily. Please check their Facebook page for the most up-to-date information

Extra care:

We are now one of the few facilities remaining open to the public in Moray. If you have been in contact with someone who is experiencing symptoms stay home, the new information indicates you should self-isolate for 14 days, even if you do not have symptoms.

PLEASE: Do not enter Moray Sports Centre if you have any of the symptoms of the Coronavirus.

What should you be aware of regarding Moray Sports Centre?

We intend to keep the facility open but will keep this position under constant review and could change with immediate effect if the risk is determined as too high.

If we do need to close the full facility, we will do so with immediate effect and communicate to all users if this is required.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
