Outside is rigorously thought out and just as inclusive
Linkwood Road will be the main approach from Elgin town centre. The MSC site is adjacent to the Linkwood distillery buildings with their distinctive bell topped roofs.
During the early stages of the design process in 2015; we took extensive consultation with NHS representatives, third sector providers and user groups. Some members of our community highlighted the barriers to accessing facilities across Moray and it is with this in mind, we have been able to include a bus stop for local companies, schools and dial-a-bus services as well as pathways, bike parking and designated disabled bays. We want our community to be able to travel to the centre and we think we’ve covered most of the travel options.
On 27 acres of land already in the ownership of the charity, we intend to build four covered Tennis courts, grass and 3G pitches (Rugby & Football) in future phases.
A 1km sensory running trail designed to increase accessibility includes planted stretches, varying surfaces and a trim trail. An allotment run by local charities working with the socially isolated and disengaged will provide for the MSC kitchen. There will be an outdoor children’s play area with a viewing and barbeque terrace.
With a quiet garden located to the south-east of the plot (and the weather allows), we have the potential to host outdoor yoga, Pilates or even find a bench to read and relax. We definitely encourage #morethansport.
